At "The Studio" Toronto, Canada.

Carmen Romero founded The School of Flamenco Dance Arts in 1992. Classes are offered either for recreation or profession.  Flamenco at the school is taught more as a language than a series of steps, chords and rhythms.  It is the integration of movement and music that makes Flamenco such a unique art form.

From Beginner to Professional levels, students learn the physical and technical aspects of the form but most importantly the communicative interplay between dance, song and guitar.

All flamenco classes are accompanied by live guitar.  Other classes such as Contemporary and Classical Spanish Dance, Castanets only, Flamenco Cajon and Palmas classes are either currently running or run on a workshop basis.  As well, audio/video presentations and discussions on the history, artists and culture of flamenco are held to give students exposure into the world of flamenco further enhancing their knowledge and appreciation for the art form.  From time to time, world-renown flamenco artists from Spain are invited to teach workshops.

Currently the faculty includes:

Carmen Romero: Flamenco, Contemporary Spanish
Dance and Castanets.

Miguel de la Bastide: Flamenco Guitar

Paul Ormandy: Flamenco Percussion

Pamela Briz : Flamenco Dance

Luisa de Ronda : Flamenco Dance

Outside of the school's activities, Carmen Romero provides lectures/demonstrations to all levels of public and private education systems.
